Jesse Head document, 1833 Jan. 1.

This document, dated January 1, 1833, is a certificate and receipt for advertising in a newspaper published by Jesse Head, a Kentuckian best known as the minister who married Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks in 1806. This document is a certificate attesting that paid advertisements were run in THE AMERICAN as promised and is also a receipt for the money paid for those advertisements. A clipping containing a portion of a list of taxes due on land is taped to the document.
